Thematic Conference on Water in the framework of the Presidency meeting of the Visegrád Group - Friday 20 April 2018
On 20 April, the Hungarian Embassy in Paris hosted a meeting conference on water, two days from the International Day of the Earth. Entitled "PRESERVING WATER, MAJOR GLOBAL NATURAL RESOURCE", this conference brought together many representatives of the water sector in France and in the countries of the Visegrád Group: industrialists, start-ups, institutions and researchers.
High-level speakers included András Szöllősi-Nagy, Governor of the World Water Council, former Director of the Department of UNESCO Water Science and Head of the Hydrology Program UNESCO International, Mr. János Józsa, Rector of the University of Technical and Economic Sciences of Budapest and member of the Academy of Hungarian science, Mr Norbert Kurilla, Slovak Secretary of State for Ministry of the Environment and Pierre Victoria, Director of the sustainable development at Veolia and general delegate of the French Circle of the water.
This conference made it possible to identify the main trends in the management of international and regional water (V4), but also to understand the national specificities of France and the countries of Europe central through practical cases. It was also an opportunity to discover a Hungarian talent startups, https://rehydrantproject.com/ which proposes to transform easily and quickly the standpipes and fire hydrants in drinking fountains.
In opening and closing of this day, the Ambassador and his deputy recalled the longstanding commitment of the President of the Republic of Hungary HE Mr. János Áder in the questions as well as the organization by Hungary of an appointment now unavoidable: the Budapest Water Summit. After the editions 2013 and 2016, Hungary is preparing for the 2019 Summit.
